Golden Gate Bridge
No flowers required. We found San Francisco to be a most interesting city, and certainly one of the most picturesque of the places we visited on this trip -- though you wouldn't know it from the mist and drizzle in this picture at the Golden Gate Bridge.
Day One began with the promise of cloudy skies.
Eventually the mist started to build up and the heavy drizzle made the going a bit wet. We started our tour at Twin Peaks, winding our way from there through Golden Gate Park (right), then through various areas of the city -- including Haight-Ashbury, Chinatown, Union Square, the financial district, past Russian Hill. Golden Gate Park
Fisherman's Wharf, day 1 Then we swung through Cow Hollow, stopping at Fisherman's Wharf for lunch (left), then it was the Presidio, over the Golden Gate Bridge to the Muir Woods then back via Sausalito.
Day two, our last day, was much better: bright sunny and clear. Starting early, we hopped a bus to Mission Street, walked to Market Street .
There we grabbed some breakfast before taking the cable car through Union Square and Nob Hill down to Columbus and Fisherman's Wharf. We didn't have much time, so we stayed in and around the area of Fisherman's Wharf, finishing at Washington Square and the Church of Sts. Peter and Paul. Cable Car
Pier 39No denying how pretty everything looked in the sunlight. Did we leave our hearts there? Guess... Somewhere between Stockton and Powell
